Americana - Freedom Lane

Did y'all have a good Halloween??  I had so much fun.  I'll do a post later and share some of the fun but I did manage to get some sewing done.  I needed to sew up my Freedom Lane as part of the Americana Quilt Along that my dear friend Deana is hosting.  And let me just tell you, it is so freaking cute!!!  Here's the first block, the church...

It's so pretty!!  Then I sewed up the schoolhouse...

Love it so much!!  And then I made up the village house...

There is one more block, but I forgot to take grey with me and as the block is a cemetery, I was out of luck.  Here is the row so far...

I love it so much!  Deana is so talented.  I love every one of her designs.

Americana - Betsy Sue Ross

I've been working my backside off trying to get my new house in order so I can sew again.  Last night, I got my quilting room to this point...

Quilt Room

Which means I was finally able to work on my sewing again!!!  So I took some time and got the applique' pieces cut for the Betsy Sue Ross row for the Americana QAL.  We have this one...

Americana - Betsy Sue Ross Blue

They still need a picture in the upper left corner but I couldn't find anything that I like there so that's waiting a bit.  Here's the next one...

Americana - Betsy Sue Ross White

I love the little eagles in the corners of the flags.  I'm going to stitch around them with a tan thread to make it look like a hoop.  Here's the last one...

Americana - Betsy Sue Ross Red

I'm really loving this quilt along!  Here's the row...

Betsy Sue Ross and NIOSA

Hi y'all!  As you know, I'm packing like crazy to get ready to move THIS FRIDAY!  But...my wonderful sister-in-law, Carly, asked me to come babysit for her over this last weekend so they could go see Garth Brooks in concert.  How could I say no??  So although this weekend involved a lot of this...

And this...

I did manage to get some sewing in too.  I got the basic part of my Americana blocks for this month done.  I forgot the fabric that I need to applique to them, but you can get an idea of what the Betsy Sue Ross block will look like...

I need to add her bonnet, the flag that she's sewing, and a picture on her wall.  All applique.  Hopefully I can squeeze that in tonight (between boxes).  Then I worked on some more blocks for my upcoming Moda Bake Shop project, NIOSA...

Americana QAL - Row 3 - Birdhouses

Hi y'all!  So I mentioned that I got a lot of sewing done over the weekend.  Saturday, I worked on Row 3 for the Americana QAL being hosted by my friend, Deana, at Dreamworthy Quilts.  Deana is an extremely talented designer and I cannot help but join in with every quilt along she hosts.  This one didn't let me down.  This row is birdhouses.  Here are the left facing ones...

Americana QAL - Left Facing Birdhouses

And the right facing ones...

Americana QAL - Right Facing Birdhouses

Those of you that have been following me for a while know that I'm not much into applique'.  And Deana really does beautiful applique'.  But I just couldn't tackle it this weekend.  So I pulled a bird from Lorna's design for the Elephant Parade, and used it instead...

Americana QAL - Bird

All in all, I love this row.

I love this row!  So sweet!  Can't wait for next month's installment.  Thanks Deana!

I'm linking up today with Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday, with I Have to Say for Show and Tell Tuesday, with Freemotion by the River for Linky Tuesday, and Sew Cute Tuesday with Blossom Heart Quilts.

Americana Rows and Ohio Crossroads

Hi friends!!!  What.  A.  Weekend!  It was good, but man was it full.  Friday was the deadline for finishing up a block for the Americana Quilt Along that my good friend Deana designed (she blogs over at Dreamworthy Quilts).  And I couldn't just do the one block, I had to get it finished.  Well, my birthday was Thursday and my kids wanted to do things with me so that took out of my sewing time so that meant Friday evening I had to get it done.  And I did.  Then when I was setting up to take the pics to do my post, my work table collapsed!  What a mess!  Fabric, tools, thread, scraps....everywhere.  Along with my soda, snacks.  Just a huge mess.  Deana was so wonderful in allowing me to post late because there was no way I could get it done Friday night.

So.....after all of that....here's the first row of the Americana quilt...

Americana - Stars

There are 8 of these stars and they are paper pieced.  I attacked them first knowing they'd take the longest.

Saturday was all about finding a new table for my sewing area.  Well that and running all over San Antonio with Cassidy and Mom.  :)  Lot's of fun, but I digress.  I got set up Saturday evening and I made up a couple of test blocks for my new Moda Bake Shop project (insert squeal here).  Then Sunday I woke up thinking I'll do that second row from the Americana Quilt Along and get it done.

And who knew I had a big 'ol gaping hole in my stash?!?  I looked at the pattern, thought, oh, no problem, went stash diving, and....no red and white stripes!  How is that even possible??  I'm tell ya....big.  Gaping.  Hole.  So, quick trip to the quilt shop and then....

Americana - Flags

Isn't it cute?!?  There are 5 sets of blocks in this row.  And I'm now all set for anymore red and white stripe requirements Deana may throw at me!  :)

Here are the rows together...

Then I went back to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and did the Ohio Crossroads block...

RSC15 - Ohio Crossroads

And then....(told you I was busy)....I got the next block for the RSC15 almost completely done before bed last night.  I should be able to get it finished pretty quickly once I get home from work.

So how was YOUR weekend?  Did you get anything accomplished?  Come share at Patchwork Times, and BOM's Away at What A Hoot Quilts, and Cooking Up Quilts for Main Crush Monday.
