Union Jack - Graduation Quilt Finish

Do yall remember the Union Jack quilt top I finished?

Union Jack

Union Jack

Well, I finally got it quilted, just in time for Cassidy's graduation!  She graduated from Churchill High School so it is the perfect quilt for her.  And with the non-traditional colors, it should carry her for many years to come.

I love the way it turned out!

I quilted it with an all-over clover pattern for luck...

And bound it with leftover 2-1/2" strips of fabric from the top.  The backing is this gorgeous fabric by Wyndham that I got a few months back from Massdrop...

Don't you just love it?!?!  I keep trying to tell Cassidy that it's way too big for her and I'll just keep it for her but she's not going for it.

And here is the gorgeous graduate!!

Congrats baby!!!  I love you!

Leader/Ender Linky Party!

I can't believe it's already time to show off our leaders and enders for June!  This year is just flying by!

So as a reminder, here is where I was last month...

And here is where I am now...

Yes, only two more sets completed but considering the amount of sewing time this month, I'll take it.  Now it's your turn!  How much progress have you made??  Grab a button and link on up!

Virtual Quilting Bee - Graduation Quilt Finish!

This was graduation week.  My daughter, Cassidy, graduated on Wednesday.  I had two quilts to finish up for this event, one for Cassidy, and one for one of her best friends, Justin.

A few weeks ago, Cassidy asked me if I had a quilt top finished that would work for Justin.  We went through my (rather large) stack and she immediately said this is the one....

This is the quilt that I did for the Virtual Quilting Bee that was hosted by Diary of a Quilter a while back.  The blocks finished rather small for me so I marinated on it for a while and decided to add the star surround from another quilt along I'd been doing (Star Surround by Happy Quilting).

To make this quilt I used the fabrics (Strawberry Lemonade by Me and My Sisters) leftover from another quilt that Cassidy claimed, so she and Justin have matching quilts.

I backed it with this baby blue bubbles fabric that I have in the stash (yes, plenty more still in stash) and quilted it with a clover design for luck.  I had Cassidy decide what to put on the label and added it to the corner before binding.

And below is a not all that great pic of the girls graduation night, Cassidy on the left and Justin on the right.  So proud of these wonderful young women!!

I couldn't be prouder!  They both graduated with honors and head off to different sides of the state in the Fall (and being in Texas, that's saying something).  But they will always be close and I look forward to watching them succeed in the future.

Curved Log Cabin

Hi yall!  I've been away from the blog for a few weeks, dealing with some family issues, but I'm back!!  And how I've missed everyone!  Can you believe I didn't touch a sewing machine for 3 weeks??  But over the last few nights, I was able to buckle down and decided to work on my curved log cabin blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  This month the color is light blue...

And last month was dark green...

Here are the first 6 sets of blocks together...

I am really liking the direction this quilt is taking!  Can't wait to see it done.

Tonight is graduation for my baby so no sewing tonight.  But I have a few finishes to share with you because I did manage to find time on a quilting machine so I'll be back Friday.
