Americana - Betsy Sue Ross

I've been working my backside off trying to get my new house in order so I can sew again.  Last night, I got my quilting room to this point...

Quilt Room

Which means I was finally able to work on my sewing again!!!  So I took some time and got the applique' pieces cut for the Betsy Sue Ross row for the Americana QAL.  We have this one...

Americana - Betsy Sue Ross Blue

They still need a picture in the upper left corner but I couldn't find anything that I like there so that's waiting a bit.  Here's the next one...

Americana - Betsy Sue Ross White

I love the little eagles in the corners of the flags.  I'm going to stitch around them with a tan thread to make it look like a hoop.  Here's the last one...

Americana - Betsy Sue Ross Red

I'm really loving this quilt along!  Here's the row...

I'm so glad that I'm finally able to sew again!!  Today I'm linking up with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced, and Let's Bee Social at Sew Fresh Quilts.  On Thursday with My Quilt Infatuation for NTT Thursday.

Mini Alien Quilt

Today I'm sharing an older finish with you in my ongoing attempt to get all of my finished quilts on the blog.  This is my Mini Alien Quilt.  Mini because I made a twin sized version for one of my nephews then a baby version for my then baby nephew.

Mini Alien Quilt - Full

The bigger quilt was made with a pattern designed for layer cakes and jelly rolls.  When I made the mini, I started with 5" squares and 1-1/2" strips.

Mini Alien Quilt - Left Detail

I collected alien fabric for years, a fat quarter here and a fat quarter there, until I had 20 different ones to make these quilts.

Mini Alien Quilt - Right Detail

I love how this pattern can take a bunch of mismatched fabric and make them into a cohesive quilt.

Mini Alien Quilt - Center Detail

The red squares throughout the top along with the red border and binding really bring this quilt together.

This quilt has been well loved and well used which makes it all worth it, doesn't it??

Today I'll be linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish It Friday, with Fabric Frenzy at Ft. Worth Fabric Studio, and for Can I Get A Whoop Whoop at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  Monday with Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday, and Bits 'n' Bobs for Design Board Monday. On Tuesday with Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday, Freemotion by the River for Linky Tuesday, and Blossom Heart Quilts for Sew Cute Tuesday.

Betsy Sue Ross and NIOSA

Hi y'all!  As you know, I'm packing like crazy to get ready to move THIS FRIDAY!  But...my wonderful sister-in-law, Carly, asked me to come babysit for her over this last weekend so they could go see Garth Brooks in concert.  How could I say no??  So although this weekend involved a lot of this...

And this...

A Quilting Chick - Sleeping Baby

I did manage to get some sewing in too.  I got the basic part of my Americana blocks for this month done.  I forgot the fabric that I need to applique to them, but you can get an idea of what the Betsy Sue Ross block will look like...

A Quilting Chick - Betsy Sue Ross

I need to add her bonnet, the flag that she's sewing, and a picture on her wall.  All applique.  Hopefully I can squeeze that in tonight (between boxes).  Then I worked on some more blocks for my upcoming Moda Bake Shop project, NIOSA...

A Quilting Chick - NIOSA

Those of you that follow me on Instagram have been seeing a few sneak peeks of this project and I'm happy to say that it is really close to being completed.  At least this one.  I have three more for Moda that I need to get done before December!!  Got to get this move finished!

This project is being made with an upcoming line from Moda called Good Karma...

Here is where I was last month...

Patches and Pinwheels Leader/Ender August 2015

Looks like I had 41 sets done.  Now for this month...

Patches and Pinwheels Leader/Ender September

Yay!!  Forty-eight sets!!!  I'm over the halfway point and I am really starting to love this quilt.  I'm very tempted to reduce the final size of this one so I can focus on the new project I am planning but for now, I'm pushing on.

Today I'm linking up with Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday, Freemotion by the River for Linky Tuesday, and Blossom Heart Quilts for Sew Cute Tuesday.  On Wednesday, with Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday and Sew Fresh Quilts for Let's Bee Social.  And Thursday with My Quilt Infatuation for NTT.  And finally on Friday with Fabric Frenzy at Ft. Snapshots - Like Riding a Bike - RSC15 - Whirlers

Hi y'all!  I've been so busy!  I'm moving on the 25th so most of my time has been spent packing.  But I did get a visit this weekend from Cassidy for her birthday and she brought three wonderful new friends with her so I had a full house.  We went to Rainforest Cafe on Saturday to celebrate.  (Cassidy's on the right, and her best friend/roommate, Jessica, is on the left)

Cassidy and Jessica

Cassidy wants to be a large animal vet so this restaurant is her favorite place to go.

Rainforest Cafe

In between running around with these kids, I did manage to get two blocks worked up.  First is the, "Like Riding a Bike," block for the Snapshots QAL.

Snapshots - Like Riding a Bike

I had one piece that I had upside down and didn't notice until the block was assembled, so this one had a bit of ripping, but it turned out adorable.  I simply love it!!  And those pinwheels finish at 1-1/2".

Next up is the Whirlers block, the first orange block of the month in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge being hosted by so scrappy.

RSC15 - Whirlers

This was a really simple block.  But I just don't have much in the way of orange!  Even so, you gotta love when Pebbles and Bam Bam come out to play! :)

Because of the move, not a ton of sewing will be happening in the next few weeks.  I do have my leaders/enders ready to show you tomorrow for our monthly linkup so be sure to stop by tomorrow and share!

Curved Log Cabins for RSC15

Hey y'all!  When I need some easy, mindless sewing, I stop and make some of these curved log cabin blocks.  They are so simple and I'm able to sew without a lot of thinking.  Here's the Indigo block for August's Rainbow Scrap Challenge (hosted by so scrappy)...

Indigo Curved Log Cabin - RSC15

I love it!  Aren't the colors fantastic?  And here is the one for September...

Orange Curved Log Cabin RSC15

Orange is going to be a stretch for me because I really don't use orange so there aren't a lot of orange scraps in my stash.  Thankfully, I think there are only two blocks in the RSC15 that are orange.

Hope y'all have a wonderfully productive, fun, safe holiday weekend.  Today I'll be linking up with Fort Worth Fabric Studio for Fabric Frenzy and with Can I Get a Whoop Whoop! at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  Tomorrow I'll link up with so scrappy.  I'm also linking up with Scraptastic Tuesday at Mrs. Sew and Sow.
