Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Row Complete and Brown Started

Happy Columbus Day!  I'm getting a late start on the blog post today because work hasn't heard it's a holiday and it's been busy so far.  I managed to get the orange row completed for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge being hosted by so scrappy...

RSC15 - Orange Row

I just love watching this come together!  So many scraps from so many fun projects.  So much fun!!  And here's the first block for this month...

RSC15 - Interlocked Blocks

The block that so scrappy had used the tri recs ruler to make and I don't have it so I switched it with this on, interlocked squares.  I really like the way this one came out.

Today I'm linking up with Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday, Cooking Up Quilts for Main Crush Monday, Bits n Bobs for Design Board Monday, and BOM's Away at What A Hoot Quilts.  On Tuesday, I'm linking up with Quilt Story for Fabric Tuesday, with Freemotion by the River for Linky Tuesday, with Blossom Heart Quilts for Sew Cute Tuesday, and with Mrs. Sew and Sow for Scraptastic Tuesday. Then Wednesday with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced and at Sew Fresh Quilts for Let's Bee Social.

Don't forget to join me next Tuesday to link up your leader/ender projects!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Whirling Blades

Hi y'all!  I got one more block for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge being hosted by so scrappy done last night.  This one is called Whirling Blades...

RSC15 - Whirling Blades

I really like this one.  Mine is backwards because apparently, even looking at a picture, I cannot cut angles the correct direction.  But those fun circles on my background fabric along with the checks and polka dots really make Fred there look like he's celebrating!

I have the setting squares cut and pinned already so I can get right to putting this row together later tonight (hopefully).  I have to go by mom's after work so I can layout the NIOSA quilt (Moda Bakeshop) as I don't have a large enough floor space.

That's it for me today!  I'll be linking up with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced, and Let's Bee Social over at Sew Fresh Quilts.  On Thursday with NTT at My Quilt Infatuation.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Twirling Four Patch

So, last night I took a break from working on my Moda Bakeshop project to do some sewing on the RSC15 project being hosted by so scrappy.  This is the Twirling Four Patch...

RSC15 - Twirling Four Patch

This block took way more time to finish than it should have.  I think that the part of moving that is driving me the most crazy is the, "not being able to find anything," thing.  I have another orange block to do then the alternate blocks.

Today I'm linking up with Fabric Tuesday at Quilt Story, Linky Tuesday at Freemotion by the River, and Sew Cute Tuesday at Blossom Heart Quilts.

Snapshots - Like Riding a Bike - RSC15 - Whirlers

Hi y'all!  I've been so busy!  I'm moving on the 25th so most of my time has been spent packing.  But I did get a visit this weekend from Cassidy for her birthday and she brought three wonderful new friends with her so I had a full house.  We went to Rainforest Cafe on Saturday to celebrate.  (Cassidy's on the right, and her best friend/roommate, Jessica, is on the left)

Cassidy and Jessica

Cassidy wants to be a large animal vet so this restaurant is her favorite place to go.

Rainforest Cafe

In between running around with these kids, I did manage to get two blocks worked up.  First is the, "Like Riding a Bike," block for the Snapshots QAL.

Snapshots - Like Riding a Bike

I had one piece that I had upside down and didn't notice until the block was assembled, so this one had a bit of ripping, but it turned out adorable.  I simply love it!!  And those pinwheels finish at 1-1/2".

Next up is the Whirlers block, the first orange block of the month in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge being hosted by so scrappy.

RSC15 - Whirlers

This was a really simple block.  But I just don't have much in the way of orange!  Even so, you gotta love when Pebbles and Bam Bam come out to play! :)

Because of the move, not a ton of sewing will be happening in the next few weeks.  I do have my leaders/enders ready to show you tomorrow for our monthly linkup so be sure to stop by tomorrow and share!

Curved Log Cabins for RSC15

Hey y'all!  When I need some easy, mindless sewing, I stop and make some of these curved log cabin blocks.  They are so simple and I'm able to sew without a lot of thinking.  Here's the Indigo block for August's Rainbow Scrap Challenge (hosted by so scrappy)...

Indigo Curved Log Cabin - RSC15

I love it!  Aren't the colors fantastic?  And here is the one for September...

Orange Curved Log Cabin RSC15

Orange is going to be a stretch for me because I really don't use orange so there aren't a lot of orange scraps in my stash.  Thankfully, I think there are only two blocks in the RSC15 that are orange.

Hope y'all have a wonderfully productive, fun, safe holiday weekend.  Today I'll be linking up with Fort Worth Fabric Studio for Fabric Frenzy and with Can I Get a Whoop Whoop! at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  Tomorrow I'll link up with so scrappy.  I'm also linking up with Scraptastic Tuesday at Mrs. Sew and Sow.

RSC15 is Caught Up! Mr. Roosevelt's Necktie and Bullseye

Yay!!  I'm so happy to finally be caught up on my blocks for this years Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  Here is Mr. Roosevelt's Necktie...

RSC15 Mr Roosevelts Necktie

I love the googly eyes.  I only had a 6" square of that so this is where it went.  Next up is Bullseye...

RSC15 - Bullseye

So I'm all caught up!!!  Finally!  I think I'm going to be spending this month playing catch up so tonight I'll work on the Snapshots QAL from the Fat Quarter Shop.

What are yall working on?

I'm linking up with She Can Quilt for Scraptastic Tuesday.

RSC15 - Lantern and Lantern Light

I've been really focused over the last week on catching up with my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks.  Here's the progress I've made over the last few days.  First up is the Lantern block...

RSC15 - Lantern

Second is Lantern Light...

RSC15 - Lantern Light

I love that spaghetti fabric!  And...we finally got a block assembled...

RSC15 - Row 3

It's going to be a good queen sized quilt.  This month is indigo blue and she's already released two blocks.  I'm almost done with the first so I'm hoping to be all caught up by bedtime tonight!  Wish me luck!

Today I'm linking up with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

Americana Rows and Ohio Crossroads

Hi friends!!!  What.  A.  Weekend!  It was good, but man was it full.  Friday was the deadline for finishing up a block for the Americana Quilt Along that my good friend Deana designed (she blogs over at Dreamworthy Quilts).  And I couldn't just do the one block, I had to get it finished.  Well, my birthday was Thursday and my kids wanted to do things with me so that took out of my sewing time so that meant Friday evening I had to get it done.  And I did.  Then when I was setting up to take the pics to do my post, my work table collapsed!  What a mess!  Fabric, tools, thread, scraps....everywhere.  Along with my soda, snacks.  Just a huge mess.  Deana was so wonderful in allowing me to post late because there was no way I could get it done Friday night.

So.....after all of that....here's the first row of the Americana quilt...

Americana - Stars

There are 8 of these stars and they are paper pieced.  I attacked them first knowing they'd take the longest.

Saturday was all about finding a new table for my sewing area.  Well that and running all over San Antonio with Cassidy and Mom.  :)  Lot's of fun, but I digress.  I got set up Saturday evening and I made up a couple of test blocks for my new Moda Bake Shop project (insert squeal here).  Then Sunday I woke up thinking I'll do that second row from the Americana Quilt Along and get it done.

And who knew I had a big 'ol gaping hole in my stash?!?  I looked at the pattern, thought, oh, no problem, went stash diving, and....no red and white stripes!  How is that even possible??  I'm tell ya....big.  Gaping.  Hole.  So, quick trip to the quilt shop and then....

Americana - Flags

Isn't it cute?!?  There are 5 sets of blocks in this row.  And I'm now all set for anymore red and white stripe requirements Deana may throw at me!  :)

Here are the rows together...

Then I went back to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and did the Ohio Crossroads block...

RSC15 - Ohio Crossroads

And then....(told you I was busy)....I got the next block for the RSC15 almost completely done before bed last night.  I should be able to get it finished pretty quickly once I get home from work.

So how was YOUR weekend?  Did you get anything accomplished?  Come share at Patchwork Times, and BOM's Away at What A Hoot Quilts, and Cooking Up Quilts for Main Crush Monday.

RSC15 - Churn Dash and Woven Four Patch

I've had a busy couple of days.

First, I'm finishing up the pattern for the Moda Bake Shop quilt I just finished!  I can't wait for yall to see it, it's so pretty!!  Second, Moda accepted two more of my patterns!  Yayayay!  So excited!

I've been working on the blocks for my friends quilt along and those should be done tonight.  And...I did these two blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  First up is the churn dash...

RSC15 - Churn Dash

And the Woven Four Patch...

RSC15-Woven Four Patch

I really love how these turned out.  I can't wait to get caught up!  She's already released one of the row layouts so I'll get a good idea of how it will turn out.

Today I'm linking up with NTT Thursday with my Quilt Infatuation.

RSC15 - Split Pinwheel

Last night I managed to get one more block done for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, the Split Pinwheel...

RSC15 - Split Pinwheel

I have one more block to go and I'll be done with the dark green, which is a good thing!  Everyone doing this challenge seems to say there is always one color that you just don't have.  Apparently dark green is mine.  So one more block and I may be out of dark green scraps!

I also spent some time adding some more fabric to my new etsy store!  These are still older fabrics but the price is great so definitely worth checking out! :)

RSC15 - Broken Sugar Bowl and Sawtooth Stars

How was y'alls weekend??  I was so busy but it was good.  I managed to squeeze in a little bit of sewing time in between visiting with family and friends.  I also added a few more things to my new etsy shop!  Still working on adding fabric, but I have some batiks listed and the price is really good! :)

I worked a bit more on catching up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge being hosted by So Scrappy.  Here is broken sugar bowl...

RSC15 - Broken Sugar Bowl

And here is the sawtooth star.  I really love this one...

RSC15 - Sawtooth Star

I thought you might like to see all of the blocks that I've made so far, including my screw up pink block that may or may not stay like it is...

I have so many things to catch up on!  Still working on the May blocks for this quilt along, need to get the first month's blocks done for another by the end of this week, along with so many other things.  So I'll be back to show you more tomorrow.

There is still time to link up with our Leader/Ender linky party!  Click here to see the post, grab a button, and link up!

RSC15 - Carrie Nation Block

Happy Friday y'all!!!  I feel like I got so much done yesterday.  I spent most of the evening setting up my new etsy shop!  There's not much on it yet.  Just got started adding some product so there are a few batiks there, but more to come!  :)  So excited to finally get this going!

After I got a few things posted, I pulled out my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks to see where I left off.  Boy am I behind.  So I did the next block, the Carrie Nation block.

RSC15 - Carrie Nation

These are really fun to make and not too time consuming so hopefully I can catch up soon.

There is still plenty of time to link up your leader/ender projects.  Just click here to grab a button and add your link.

RSC15 - Curved Log Cabin - Red

Last night I really wanted some easy, relaxed sewing so I decided to do this month's curved log cabin block for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge being hosted over at So Scrappy.  This month's color is red and I had a lot of fun playing with these scraps.  Some of these I can easily date back 12 years...

Curved Log Cabin - Red

It feels so good to get them used up!  Here is the layout of all the blocks so far....

Curved Log Cabin

There will be a total of 12 of them so it will make a good twin sized quilt.  I really love this one and can't wait to see the finished project.

There is still plenty of time to come link up your leader/ender progress this month.  Just click here and share!

Today I'll be linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced, and Let's Bee Social at Sew Fresh Quilts.  On Thursday, I'm linking up with My Quilt Infatuation for NTT.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Yellow

I feel like I'm starting to get back on track here. Last night I whipped up the first two blocks this month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. This month's color is yellow.

The one on the left is Air Castles and the one on the right is Monkey Wrench.  I really hope that next week, I can work on my yellow elephants too! :)

Be sure to stop by on Tuesday to join in our leader/ender linky party!

Last night I finished up my baby elephants!! I do believe I've become addicted to making these little guys...

RSC15 has Begun!

I've been watching So Scrappy and her Rainbow Scrap Challenges from the sidelines for a few years. This year, I decided that I've had enough watching and that I need to, "Just Do It!"  And I think I picked the perfect year to play.  She is designing a variety of 6" blocks and then setting them into sawtooth star blocks.  I do love me some stars!  This month's color is blue and here is my first block...

The stars will then be set with Irish Chain blocks.  Her design drawing is here.  Isn't it gorgeous??  And it is using SCRAPS!!  I still have a gazillion of them.  They just never seem to diminish in quantity at all.

So while I was whipping that up last night, I also did block 29 in my Austen Family Album quilt.  Can you believe, only 7 more to go?!?  I have my setting block fabric too so I'm really, really hoping to finish this top by the end of the weekend.  We'll see...

That's it for my evening last night.  I hope some of you decide to come play in RSC15.  It looks to be a lot of fun this year!
