Friday Night Sew In Goals

Hi y'all!  This week I happened upon a sew in going on tomorrow night.  I got all excited about the idea then never took the time to post about it.  Boy am I running late!  But here it goes...

It is being hosted by Sugarlane Quilts and there are prizes involved!  :)  Yup, just for doing what I'd be doing anyway....sewing!  So, here is what I want to accomplish...

First, I want to finish up the quilt shops for this month's row of the Quilter's Garden Swap.  Deana designed the cutest quilt shops and I've been making mini sized Dear Jane blocks for the quilts in each shop.  Here's Deana's design wall showing all of the rows so far....

Isn't she super talented????  I love this swap so much!  Can't wait to start constructing the houses.

Then I need to make the first block in our Not So Last Minute Christmas Quilt AlongJulianna at Sewing Under Rainbow designed this fabulous paper pieced series just before Christmas last year.  She gave me permission to host a year long quilt along to finish up this quilt by next Christmas!!!  This month's block is the Christmas trees.

So, yeah, not all of that is going to happen Friday night.  Let's just say those are my goals for the weekend.  :)  You should come sew along too!  It looks to be a ton of fun.

Quilters Garden - Quilt Shops

So this month, in the Quilter's Garden Swap, we are making quilt shops.I got so excited because each shop pattern has a place for a tiny quilt to hang. I knew immediately that I wanted to play with my Dear Jane software and miniaturize some blocks to be the quilts in my blocks. Yesterday I printed up my patterns and last night I put together this little guy. This is D-10, Battlefield.

After I made it, I realized that I had made it to finish at 3-1/2" when it is supposed to finish at 3".  I trimmed it to 3-1/2" which is what you see above.  It looks like when I use it to make my quilt shop that the outside coral plaid will disappear.  Most likely this one will end up on a shop I keep because of that error.  I did reprint my other patterns this morning so they'll be the right size.  Don't you just love it???  I'm so excited about this.  Can't wait to get home tonight and start the next block.

Linking up today with Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday.

And if you haven't seen it yet, we have a new quilt along here at A Quilting Chick, the Not So Last Minute Christmas Quilt Along.  Come join in!!

Leaders/Enders 1/20/15

Welcome to the January leader/ender linky party!  I love these parties.  Every single project that links up is inspiring and makes me start planning my next leader/ender project.  But before I show you mine this month, I wanted to show you that I finished the second block for this month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge, the card trick block.

I'm having a lot of fun playing with these blocks and the layout that So Scrappy has come out with this year is gorgeous.  So glad to be participating!

So without further ado, here is where I am with my leader/ender project, Patches and Pinwheels...

Laying them out for you each month is really helping!  I learned that I've made enough blocks that they don't fit on my table anymore. :)  And I saw that I put the wrong color pinwheels on two of the blocks so I need to switch them out.  I am really loving this scrap quilt so much.  I can't wait to see it finished (in a year or so!).

So what are you working on for your leader/ender project?  Link up below.  And then swing on by So Scrappy and see other people's RSC15 projects.  Then stop by Fabric Tuesday at Quilt Story and enjoy the eye candy!  Also linking up with Sew Fresh Quilts for Let's be Social! and My Quilt Infatuation for Needle and Thread Thursday.

And in case you missed it, we have a new quilt along here on the blog, the Not So Last Minute Christmas Quilt Along and you are just in time to join in!
