Leader/Ender Linky Party!

I'm still in the "finishing up the top" stage on my last leader/ender.  The center is all together now and I started auditioning borders last night.  Here's where I was when I showed yall last week...

I'm hoping to have the top finished so I can show y'all by Friday!!  :)  Now a reminder, I'm starting a new project for my leader/ender.  I'm going to be making quilts for the local NICU for Threads of Love.  Here's the start of my first one...

As they need finished sizes of 36" x 42" they will go together quite quickly.  As a matter of fact, I have all of the centers done already and the HST's for the star points are made.  This is so bright and cheerful!  If you are interested in helping out with this worthy project, or just have scraps that you want to get rid or, please think about donating them to the cause.  The details are on last week's post here.

Now it's your turn!  Let me see how far you've gotten on your leaders/enders!!

New Leader/Ender Project!

Hello friends!  I know it's been a while but I have some exciting news to share!  I've been pushing hard to finish up my leader/ender project and I finally got it to the point where it has to go to main project to finish up.  Here's a shot...

A Quilting Chick - Patches and Pinwheels

All of the 6-inch squares have been combined into 12-inch blocks as leaders/enders.  After laying it out to take this pic, everything is arranged so I can start putting it into a top!  :)  You know what that means???  New leader/ender project!

Which leads to my news.  I decided month's ago that it made a lot more sense to use my leader/ender space as a charity project.  And I knew exactly which charity I want to work with.  My gorgeous daughter, Cassidy, was born almost 2 months early.

 Cassidy

She had to stay in the NICU for almost a month.  She'd barely come home from the hospital when I had to go back to work.  The nurses in the NICU were amazing and I'll never forget the little gifts that were given to her while there.  They really helped us through that trying time in our lives.   Now I want to give back.  Here in San Antonio is a group called Threads for Love.  They are in desperate need for quilts, blankets, knitted/crocheted caps, burial gowns, etc. (check their website for details). The quilts/blankets that they need are size 36" x 42" to drape over the incubators.  Here's the start of my new leader/ender project...

 Scrap Jar Star

This is a Scrap Jar Star block, designed by A Little Bit Biased.  I only need 9 blocks plus a top and bottom border to make the size they need.  I cannot wait to get these going and start helping out.

AND YOU CAN TOO!  If you'd like to help, I'll be collecting donated quilts or blankets from our community and dropping them off.  I'm going to start looking for a sponsor for this project and I think we'll break it down into quarters so for every item you donate during the quarter, you'll be entered for a prize.  Not sure what it'll be for the first quarter yet, but I'll definitely let you know.

If you don't have time to help with the sewing but still want to donate to the cause, I'll be accepting fabric and scrap donations to help make the quilts for these needing families.  Please contact me via email at aquiltingchick@gmail.com and I'll give you the address to send to.

I'm so excited about this project and can't wait to see what this community can do to help!!!
